2009 Délas – Outstanding Northern Rhône

While the Délas winery was founded over 150 years ago in the heart of the Côte du Rhône, it was not really until 1997, and the appointment of acclaimed winemaker Jacques Grange, that the wines really began to capture anyone’s imagination.

Now among some of the most sought-after wines in the Northern Rhône, the range of wines from Délas is exemplary and – in the great 2009 vintage – they truly shine.

The brilliant Jacques Granges remains in control of all winemaking at Delas Freres, and he has produced some of his greatest wines in 2009 for the northern cuvées. Moreover, this is a firm that has surged ahead in quality over the last 15 years…” Robert Parker

We have the following wines from the 2009 available to purchase online:

2009 Crozes-Hermitage Le Clos, Delas Frères
£120 per case of 6 bottles in bond
Deep ruby red with garnet rim. This wine, which is produced only in top vintages and in limited quantity, opens up in the glass to reveal a lovely balance between ripe cassis and blackcurrant, Provençal herbs, pepper, leather and spice. On the palate, it shows considerable elegance and poise, with a lovely depth of flavour. This is a wine which will continue to please for many years. (Robert Parker: 91-93 points)
Drink: 2011-2018

2009 Cornas Chante Perdrix, Delas Frères
£138 per case of 6 bottles in bond
Intense garnet red. Strong cassis and blackberry give way to intense earthy aromas. The palate is beautifully rich and structured, displaying exotic, meaty characteristics alongside pepper and liquorice in the background.  A terrific example of this more rustic Northern Rhône appellation.  (Robert Parker: 91-93 points)
Drink: 2011-2020

2009 Côte-Rôtie Seigneur de Maugiron, Delas Frères
£198 per case of 6 bottles in bond
This cuvée is a blend of Syrah grapes coming from the Côte Brune (70%) and the Côte Blonde (30%). Deep crimson in the glass, the powerful nose has black-currant, cherry, liquorice and smoky aromas.  On the palate, the intense fruit and black tapenade flavours are framed by subtle woody notes and a tightly-knit tannic framework. (Robert Parker: 92-94 points)
Drink: 2011-22

We also have small volumes of the Hermitage Marquise de la Tourette and the iconic Hermitage Les Bessards currently available. Please contact our fine wine team on +44 1473 313300 for more details.
