Bordeaux 2010 New Release: Grand Puy Lacoste

Probably one of the most talked about properties this year, Grand Puy Lacoste has produced an extraordinary wine this year.

Described as follows by Robert Parker, who gave it 93-96 points: “The greatest Grand Puy Lacoste since the 2005, 2000 and 1990, the fabulous 2010 reveals all the hallmarks of this estate. It boasts a dense purple color along with classic notes of creme de cassis, blueberries, blackberries, crushed rocks and flowers, sweet tannin and an exceptionally full-bodied and multilayered mouthfeel as well as a boatload of tannin. Cellar it for a decade and drink it over the following three decades. Proprietor Xavier Borie’s 2010 recalls the 2005.”

2010 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Cru Classé Pauillac
£660 per case of 12 bottles in bond
This is a beautifully refined and elegant expression of the vintage. It combines depth, density and weight with a lovely, natural, fresh and flowing expression of bright fruit. With a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon (83%), this wine is powerful, full and distinctly Pauillac in style, with its precise linear palate, all carried off with poise and harmony. This is a great Grand-Puy-Lacoste.
Drink: 2015-2030
