Bordeaux 2010 New Releases: Chasse Spleen & Paveil de Luze

Today was a quieter day than anticipated, but we have two new releases this afternoon, both Cru Bourgeois and both offering great value. Chasse-Spleen is always popular with Lay & Wheeler customers, performing considerably above its classification in most vintages – 2010 being no exception.

2010 Château Chasse-Spleen, Cru Bourgeois Moulis
£216  per case of 12 bottles in bond
Dusky and quite brooding on the nose. Quite a structural style on the palate, with robust tannins and an enlivening acidity. There is a core of sweet, ripe fruit here, but this will need time to unwind itself.
Drink: 2015-2025

A new wine to the Lay & Wheeler portfolio, Château Paveil de Luze is made under the supervision of the famed Bordeaux consultant Stéphane Derencourt.  Glossy and stylish, this is a very attractive proposition in this vintage.

2010 Château Paveil de Luze, Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Margaux
£147 per case of 12 bottles in bond
Initially a little closed on the nose, this is awoken to give dark berry notes and a touch of woodsmoke. On the palate, appealingly fresh, with notes of cassis and red berries to the fore. Tannins are well-integrated, giving this a silky-texture. Very good Cru Bourgeois Margaux and excellent value.
Drink: 2015-2025
