Bordeaux 2010 New Release: Château Rieussec

Another great release for the end of the week: Château Rieussec, one of the most consistent and sought-after of the Sauternes in any vintage. 2010 was a good vintage for Sauternes and the resultant Rieussec is richly concentrated, fragrant and beautiful.

2010 Château Rieussec, Cru Classé Sauternes
£267 per case of 6 bottles in bond
£274.20 per case of 12 half bottles in bond
Made from a blend of 92% Sémillon, with just 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle for extra aromatics, the tasting sample at the Union des Grands Crus Sauternes tasting was arguably the richest in the room. Extremely clean, concentrated sweetness on the palate, with intense bitter orange fruit characters. The 2010 is incredibly well-balanced though, as the acidity acts as a counterpoint to  that richness. Simply gorgeous. Drinking: 2015-2030
