Caronne-St-Gemme – now released

We were fortunate enough to stay for a few days at Château Caronne-St-Gemme during our time at Bordeaux.  Overlooking its vineyards and backing onto beautiful, bird-filled woodland, the location of the Château made a peaceful home-away-from-home for us during the somewhat hectic en primeur tastings.

We tasted the 2010 Caronne-St-Gemme several times, both at the chais and alongside other crus bourgeois at négociant tastings during the week. At all times it impressed us, with its structure beautifully melded with appealing bright fruit characters and represents excellent value for money in this vintage.

2010 Château Caronne Ste Gemme, Cru Bourgeois Haut-Médoc
£102 per case of 12 bottles in bond
Bright berry fruit on the nose, carrying through onto a vibrant palate of red and black berries. The tannins here are finely realised, providing structure, but by no means overwhelming. Well balanced with excellent freshness and an appealing fruit-led finish. Drinking: 2015-2022
