Vins de plaisir

Another day and yet more great wines.

The 2009 wines at Sauzet were very open during our tasting this afternoon and Monsieur Boudot told us that they will remain open throughout their life and that their weight and acidity will allow them to age gracefully.

At Jean-Marc Boillot the harvest was picked relatively early and, like many other whites which were harvested at the same time, this was evident in the freshness they displayed.  Our visit to Comte Armand included a fascinating tasting demonstrating the different terroirs within the Clos des Epeneaux showing liquorice and spicy flavours. Benjamin Leroux was his usual articulate self and told us that he prefers his 2009 vintage to that of 2005.

These were just a few of the domaines visited today and tomorrow promises another long day as we head north to the Cote de Nuits so there will be a myriad of Pinot Noirs to discover.
