Bordeaux 2009 Release: Croix de Beaucaillou – £297/12

This, to us, is one of the must-buys of the vintage. On a quality-to-price ratio alone, this is an excellent purchase in any vintage and, when compared to other second-wines of notable properties released in this vintage, this certainly stands out. Easily the best “second” wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou that we have ever tasted, this should be included in any cellar. If you intend buying multiple cases of any wine, this is the one to buy.

2009 La Croix de Beaucaillou, St-Julien
£297 per case of 12 bottles in bond
Very attractive and pure, perfumed, blueberry and blackcurrant nose, with creamy notes and a touch of graphite. On palate the fruit is pure and focused. The tannins are fine and accessible and the finish is fresh and of good fruit length. Gently expressed, very well balanced and likely to represent a fabulous quality to price ratio.
Drinking: 2015-2023
