Bordeaux 2009 – First Releases

While we expect the majority of the top wines of the vintage to release their prices during May and June, some properties are beginning to become available. These are available to purchase online now:

2009 Château La Tour de By, Cru Bourgeois Médoc
£108 per case of 12 bottles in bond
Ripe on the nose, with rich fruit character and a hint of toast. On the palate the tannins are sturdy, but fine and balanced by the attractive fresh nature to the Cabernet-fruit. This is a very correct example of Cru Bourgeois from this vintage and offering great value for money. 2015-2022

2009 Château Doisy-Védrines, Cru Classé Barsac
£124.50 per case of 6 bottles in bond
£129 per case of 12 half bottles in bond
A focused, pure, lime marmalade nose, with subtle grapefruit and barley sugar notes.  On the palate the wine has a rich sweet attack, but there is perfect poise and a freshness which underpins the opulence  An appealing Barsac, with great sweetness, intensity and balance. 2015-2025

2009 Château Doisy-Daëne, Cru Classé Barsac
£159 per case of 6 bottles in bond
£165 per case of 12 half bottles in bond
A rich and complex nose, where subtle hints of botrytis combine with citrus, honey and marzipan characters. This is lusciously sweet, but the pronounced acidity on the palate cuts through the sweetness, keeping it incredibly fresh and well balanced. There is an earthier note on the palate, with more botrytis evident lending a really weighty mouthfeel. The finish is long and lingering and this is superb! 2015-2030
